Game Play

The Care Cup is played in a modified mixed doubles format. Tournament format will be double-elimination.

  1. All teams are encouraged to include a minimum of 1 female competitor.
  2. Paddles will be made available.
  3. Teams must rotate players every 3 points. This process will ensure equitable gameplay.
  4. All matches are subject to an official game clock. If a winning team has not been established when the game clock expires, then the match will be established by a tiebreak.
  5. Regular matches will be scored to 11.
  6. The Semi-Final and Grand Final matches will be played to a score of 21.

Dress Code

To celebrate a tradition of racquet sports and to adhere with the Club’s dress code, all competitors are required to wear “whites” and non-marking athletic shoes. All spectators and guests of the reception are recommended to wear smart or business-casual attire to the reception. Please contact a member of the Care Cup committee if you have any questions about the applicable Dress Code.

Please contact smyl@smh.ca should you require guidance or have any questions or concerns about this Policy.

Etiquette

Our host venue, The Badminton and Racquet Club of Toronto, is a prestigious private club that has generously offered its facilities for The Care Cup. It is essential that all event guests maintain professional decorum while on its property. Therefore, it is expected that (1) alcohol consumption is appropriately managed, (2) all guests do not use explicit language or otherwise act inappropriately during gameplay and at the Reception, and (3) that everyone respects the Club’s property to the highest duty of care.

Any violation of this Etiquette Policy will result in disqualification from gameplay, removal from the Reception, or indefinite expulsion from The Care Cup.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Our competitors, sponsors, and spectators make meaningful contributions to powering life-saving equipment, fueling groundbreaking research, and ensuring that everyone has access to the care they need when and how it counts. Please contact smyl@smh.ca to learn more.
